  • A marriage of her Iranian heritage with her South London roots, paria /FARZANEH is the eponymously named label experimenting with the intersections of ethnicity, colonialism, surveillance, and the urban milieu by creating pieces that can’t quite be placed here or there, but instead exist in a confluence of cultural past and present. With functionality at the forefront of her designs, Farzaneh offers workwear pieces made from deadstock performance materials and heavy twills, along with patterned knits and balaclavas that are reminiscent of motifs found in Persian rugs. Fluorescent trims, paisley prints, and unexpected details create a uniquely contemporary conversation on a current wardrobe, while the distinct military influence encourages thoughtful inspection of western imperialism and the realities of black and brown people in post-colonial life. Through applying so much of herself to her work, Farzaneh is igniting conversations and creating a new future for identity and function in the world of fashion.
