  • Now the second largest sportswear company in the world, adidas was founded in 1924 by Adolf and Rudolf Dassler under the name Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, or the “Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.” In 1949, disagreements between the two led Rudolf Dassler to splinter off to create Puma while Adolf turned the shoe factory into adidas. Today, adidas is recognized internationally for its trademark 3-Stripes found on an array of products ranging from sneakers to their signature track suits. Since, adidas has placed itself at the forefront of sneaker culture with prominent silhouettes and technology such as the NMD, Ultraboost, and Ultraboost 4D. Outside of sneakers, adidas has anchored itself in the pop culture and fashion world with collaborative lines including Kanye West’s YEEZY sneakers, Pharrell Williams’ Human Race collaborations, and Beyonce’s Ivy Park collections. Further bolstering its position within the fashion world are innovative collaborations with legendary fashion designers, such as Raf Simons, Rick Owens and Yohji Yamamoto.
