    • Introduced for FW09, Veilance is a sublabel of innovative Canadian outdoors brand Arc’teryx that merges a minimalist design ethos with superior materials to create clothing and accessories specifically geared to urban environments. At the heart of Veilance’s climate controlling systems is GORE-TEX, whose material technology has become synonymous with protection against the elements since the first successful moon landing in 1969. Founded in 1989 in Vancouver, B.C by climbers and friends Dave Lane and Jeremy Guard, Arc’teryx was originally called Rock Solid Manufacturing. The company’s first product was the Vapor harness, an ultra-lightweight climbing harness that used a groundbreaking laminated, three-dimensional foam construction. By 1998, Lane and Guard changed their brand’s name to Arc’teryx after Archaeopteryx lithographica—a winged dinosaur that was once thought to be the first bird—to better reflect its evolutionary approach to innovation. Built on the principle of obsessive, precise design and production, Arc'teryx is located at the base of the Canadian Coast Mountain Range, where the rugged wilderness and unpredictable weather act as both the inspiration and the testing ground for its products. The label’s unique in-house manufacturing and design center, ARC’One, allows Arc'teryx to quickly and consistently develop state-of-the-art products, such as the Alpha SV Jacket, and proprietary technologies such as the WaterTight™ zipper, micro seam technology, Tri-Dex™ glove construction, and Warp Strength™ harnesses.
