  • Stefano Pilati, seasoned Italian designer for the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Ermenegildo Zegna, and others, launched his own ready-to-wear line Random Identities in 2017. Free from his perceived constraints of the mainstream fashion industry, the Berlin-based designer channels the energy of the city around him to inspire collections that embody refinement, wearability, and a shifting attitude toward gender and identity. With the intention of creating clothing that serves as a template for personal expression, Random Identities is as much a reflection of the designer as the cultures he moves through. Looking to Berlin’s nightlife, Random Identities fuses chic tailoring with eye-catching details that evoke clubs and underground spaces. Double-breasted blazers are synched at the waist, soft knits are adorned with rhinestone trim, and lace bras are printed on to poplin button-ups; skewing notions of formality, uniform, and gender in collections that capture raw authenticity without sacrificing design quality and function.
