  • Established in 2015 by designers Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch, Berlin-based clothing line Ottolinger “aspires to an extreme form of beauty that thrives at the border between individuality and community.” After meeting at The Institute of Fashion Design in Basel, Switzerland, Gadient and Bösch moved to Berlin to start their brand, which takes its name from the label on their neighbor’s doorbell at their first studio. Ottolinger showed its debut collection in London in September 2015 and has since made its way to an international stage with a reputation of couture counterculture. Draped and manipulated with precision, the pieces become an off-kilter presentation of luxury fashion meant to challenge notions of design and construction. Asymmetrical seams, bold lacing, raw edges, and deconstructed silhouettes present as just askew enough to entice while also forcing the viewer to engage with the pieces in new and surprising ways.
