Creatives Nacho Alegre, Omar Sosa, and Marco Velard founded Apartamento in 2007 as an independently published interior design magazine that subverts the typical posed and polished nature of other publications in its genre. Based partly upon inspiration garnered from Alegre staying on friends' couches while traveling through Europe as a photographer, Apartamento leans into the lived-in feel of their subjects' homes. The magazine's content is formed around the extensive interviews of other creatives and the candid and intimate photo documentation of their living spaces. Apartamento has developed an international cult for its unique lens without shying away from natural clutter and the expressive nature of interior spaces. A wide range of creative talent, including contributions from photographers such as Dominique Nabokov and Juergen Teller, help elevate the bi-annual magazine to international acclaim. Hugely influential in the world of interior design and independent publication, Apartamento fosters connection through storytelling and the creative display of everyday interior spaces and objects.
