  • Greg Chait founded The Elder Statesman in 2007, launching the brand with the release of a handful of cashmere blankets. Since the beginning, Chait has held true to the belief that human skill and craftsmanship is what makes a luxury product. The bulk of the brand's production takes place in its Los Angeles facility and is carried out by expert knitters, weavers, and dyers. The Elder Statesman is defined not only by its luxury craft process, but also by its distinct California-infused aesthetic. Fine cashmere and other handspun yarns take the shape of cardigans, crewnecks, and shirts that are finished in playful patterns, bright colors, and slouchy fits that imbue each piece with a lighthearted elegance.
