Started by Russian immigrant Abraham Hyde in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Hyde officially began manufacturing athletic shoes from brands such as PF Flyer and Spotbilt under the name Hyde Athletic Industries in 1910. In the 1960s Hyde bought out Saucony and headquartered it at his factories in the northeast. When two Saucony brand sneakers were chosen as part of the top 10 running shoes in Runner’s World, Hyde officially changed the name of the company to Saucony. Since then, Saucony has become a major player in the athletic and casual sneaker world.
