As the youngest finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and designer of his eponymous label, Reese Cooper is re-inventing Americana with the youth in mind. Florida-born and London-raised, Cooper developed an affinity for street-leaning aesthetics as an early teen through his discovery of BAPE and his subsequent internship with legendary British PR agency, ANON*. Working directly with brands situated between high-street and luxury, Cooper turned his eye towards the quality in craftsmanship and the elevated basics of Japanese design. Inspired by the intricacies in garment construction, Cooper began experimenting with textiles and finishes; teaching himself design in search of the perfect fitting jacket.
Forgoing university and opting for the school of life instead, Cooper launched his label in 2016 at only 18 years old. Now based in LA, Reese Cooper is as much a commercial success as an industry success. Taking a new approach to work-wear, collegiate motifs, and the semiotics of Americana, Cooper gives a fresh perspective to menswear and womenswear by storytelling for a new generation. With collections titled, “Hitchhiking,” “Big Sky,” and “River Runs Through,” Reese Cooper is offering a vantage point on American culture through an expat's eyes, and fusing functionality with privilege, exploration with artfulness, and heritage with youth culture in a new mode through the eyes of the wonder kid.
