  • French designer Thierry Mugler established his namesake house in 1974 with the presentation of his first collection “Café de Paris.” Mugler’s designs quickly received attention for his unique and provocative aesthetic, synthesizing diverse inspirations such as the shoulder pads of vintage tailoring, the corset, and punk stylings into futuristic and feminine ensembles. Looking to further his singular aesthetic universe Mugler created the cult perfume Angel in 1992. Though his ready-to-wear and perfume found early success, Mugler is perhaps most remembered for his haute couture creations for some of pop culture's biggest stars including Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, Beyonce, and Cardi B. These highly sought designs amplify the designer's sensibilities resulting in a variety of bold, avant-garde, and hyper-feminine gowns, suits, and costumes. Despite closing the ready-to-wear line in 2003, the French house returned to the industry after naming American designer Casey Cadwallader the brand's creative director in 2017. Cadwallader’s designs bring the house's fantastical aesthetic to a new audience by incorporating contemporary cuts and materials without sacrificing the sharp lines and colors of collections past. MUGLER's menswear line parrallels the womenswear with form fitting sportswear staples, spiral cut denim, and abstract prints that bring a masculine edge to the houses signautre aesthetic.
