Founded by Alexandra Vincent, Karl Felix, and Zarina Bekerova, the London-based collective Mainline:RUS/Fr.CA/DE explores the conceptual act of traveling between places and cultures through the Creative Directors collaborative process, the design themes of their collections, and artistic presentation of the clothing. The collective’s name is derived from the country codes of the three cofounders and signifies the cross-cultural collaborative process that serves as the backbone for the label’s creative output. Inspired by corporate dress codes, Mainline:RUS/Fr.CA/DE creates genderless collections that juxtapose and expand common notions of comfort and sex appeal. Elements of tailoring are skewed with cut-outs and asymmetrical panels, while knitwear is rendered with gathered designs that suggest a disheveled comfort while highlighting the wearer's body. Crafted sustainably from deadstock and recycled materials, Mainline:RUS/Fr.CA/DE’s collections realizes an intimacy and playfulness lost in the practice of corporate travel.
