Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta founded their eponymous, bicoastal label in 2011. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2010, where Eckhaus studied sculpture and Latta studied textile design, the duo honed their skills at well-known brands—Eckhaus as an accessories designer at Marc by Marc Jacobs and Latta as a knitwear designer at Opening Ceremony—before establishing their own a year later. Known for its gender-neutral clothing, unorthodox presentations, and diverse list of collaborators and muses, including Bobbi Salvör Menuez, Dev Hynes, Jane Moseley, and Hari Nef, Eckhaus Latta has quickly gained a reputation for its ability to toe the line between the worlds of fashion and contemporary art. Case in point, in 2018, the label debuted its first solo exhibition, Possessed, at the Whitney Museum and was named a finalist for the LVMH Prize.
