Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY is a celebration of queer London club culture. As a student at Central St Martins, Jeffrey interned at Dior’s haute couture ateliers in Paris, and began the club night, LOVERBOY, at famed queer art and performance space Vogue Fabrics in Dalston. Using the same name for his label, Jeffrey graduated from Central St Martins in 2015. Jeffrey quickly garnered attention for his provocative aesthetic and secured a LVMH Prize nomination and 2017 Fashion Award for British Emerging Talent. Jeffrey channels his own experience and the experience of his peers to imbue each collection with equal parts a sense of collective identity and the truth that is individual expression. References to the designer's Scottish heritage can be seen throughout his collection in the use of tartan skirts and beret-style hats, while the use of abstract prints, tactile materials, and exaggerated silhouettes firmly root LOVERBOY into the aesthetic of its club-going origins.Â
