Founded in Los Angeles in 2014, Brain Dead is a collective of artists and designers from around the globe collaborating at the intersection of streetwear, storytelling, and community-building. Originally in pursuit of a career in film, designer and founder Kyle Ng landed in fashion through his interest and devotion to counter-culture and outsider art. Beginning with a gallery exhibit for New York boutique, Nepenthes, Ng established a progressive narrative early on through his exploration of ethnic bootlegs, skate culture, and post-punk semiotics. Today, Brain Dead fuses product design with streetwear through collaborations with The North Face, Reebok, A.P.C, and ROA, creating a collection of objects, footwear, and garments that are distinctly bold and work to capture the zeitgeist through their unique rendering of subversive youth culture. Punk-inspired graphics adorn tees, hoodies, and sweatpants, while psychedelic prints come to life on home goods and accessories. Collaborating with an international network of artists and prioritizing giving back through community-based initiatives, Brain Dead is reimagining the framework, and potential, for new-age streetwear.
