New Balance 801 All-Terrain

Published November 08, 2018

Released in 1998, the New Balance 801 was the first sneaker of its kind to combine running and trail elements in a single silhouette. Perfect for camping and hiking, it quickly proved its claim as “all-terrain,” becoming a go-to sneaker for college kids across the country and even a surprise hit with sneakerheads in cities like New York. The 801 got its most visible street cred a year later when Coney Island native and New Jersey Nets point guard Stephon Marbury wore the sneaker on the cover of influential basketball and sneaker culture magazine SLAM.

Briefly rereleased in 2014, the 801 is back for its twentieth anniversary in its original grey, navy and yellow colorway. To celebrate its return, we took the sneaker hiking in the woods to test its “all-terrain” tread and ABZORB cushioning against something other than a sidewalk.

Available exclusively through Notre starting Saturday, November 10 at 11am in-store and online.
