This past weekend we kicked off the release of our inaugural Notre x Converse collaboration. For our first joint collection, we drew inspiration from the aesthetic of décor: the timeless elements that transform a living space into a home. As part of our release, we unveiled a living room-themed Notre x Converse installation with objects curated by local Chicago furniture purveyors Converso and Circa Modern.
Three iterations, two street icons, one unified vision.
As part of our collaborative release and installation with Converse, we activated our 18th Notre Talk with our collection partners, Mexico City’s leading furniture firm La Metropolitana. To a packed house of Notre friends, family, and community, founders Alejandro Gutierrez and Mauricio Guerrero spoke to Mexican-American creative consultant Alicia Gutierrez about their humble beginnings, their social responsibility, and all things design.
La Metropolitana goes beyond the typical scope of a furniture practice by way of a conscious business model. Focusing on issues of internal migration within Mexico has led them to creating equitable jobs near the homes of their production teams. Their social responsibility project paved the way for a better quality of life for their collaborators who can trade their commute to Mexico City for more time at home with their families.
