“One, design. Two, utility. Three, technology.” While it might sound as though Yosuke Aizawa’s Tokyo-based White Mountaineering’s design philosophy sounds as though it belongs in the realm of engineers and rocket scientists, it works equally as well as a philosophy for creating technical yet fashionable clothes. Before starting the outdoors wear inspired line in 2006, Aizawa honed his talents under the mentorship of Rei Kawakubo during his time at Comme Des Garcon in addition to being mentored by Junya Watanabe. Since then, Aizawa has collaborated with the likes of Adidas and Barbour all while cementing White Mountaineering as a brand that focuses on elegantly fusing the practicality of outdoors wear and technical fabrics such as GORE-TEX® with the details and aesthetics of a fashion the fashion world.
