  • Before Nike and adidas started handing out signature shoes to NBA players, the sneaker brand of choice was Converse. Established in 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts, Converse is one of the oldest operating sneaker companies on the planet, with co-signs from early famous athletes, including Jack Purcell and Chuck Taylor, plus a who’s who of pop cultural icons, from David Bowie to Snoop Dogg to Kurt Cobain. Known for signature models such as the “Chuck Taylor” All Star, which debuted in 1917 as the first mass produced basketball sneaker in North America, and 1974’s One Star, among others, Converse has produced some of the most quintessential footwear of the past century. Whether a high-profile collaboration or just the classic high top, a pair of Converse is a wardrobe staple that only gets better with wear.
