  • Native New Yorker Hamilton Carhartt founded his namesake brand in 1889 as a trade union manufacturer of denim and cotton duck fabric overalls and subsequently establishes it as a well-recognized American manufacturer of military and workwear uniforms. A hundred years later, inspired by the proliferation of the Carhartt golden “C” by hip hop acts such as Mobb Deep and labels such as Tommy Boy Entertainment, Edwin Faeh began introducing distinctly American products to the European market under the name “All American Concept.” In 1994, Faeh officially established WIP (Work in Progress) as the exclusive distributor of Carhartt in Europe. Since then, Carhartt WIP has cemented itself as one of the most respected streetwear labels in the world, backing skate and BMX teams, introducing women’s and heritage lines, and collaborating with brands such as A.P.C., Heron Preston, Nike, and Vans.
