Now the largest sportswear company in Europe, adidas was founded in 1924 by Adolf and Rudolf Dassler under the name Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, or the “Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.” In 1949, disagreements between the two led Rudolf Dassler to splinter off to create Puma while Adolf turned the shoe factory into adidas. Today, adidas is recognized internationally for its trademark 3-Stripes found on an array of products ranging from sneakers to the tracksuits donned by British grime stars. In recent years, adidas has placed itself at the forefront of sneaker culture with prominent silhouettes—such as the NMD, EQT and Ultra Boost—and through innovative collaborations with legendary fashion designers, such as Raf Simons, Rick Owens and Yohji Yamamoto.
