Looking to start the year off on the right foot, the team over at New Balance turned to its Tokyo design studio to create something that would clearly indicate where the brand is heading in 2016. The result is the ML2016, a special edition sneaker to kick off the brand's 110 year anniversary.
The shoe itself is a culmination of New Balance's century-old heritage blended with the very best of today's footwear technology. The new ML2016 takes styling cues from NB classics like the 1600, 988 and 966, amongst others. The body of the shoe is constructed from high quality nubuck and suede, and it's detailed with various pebbled leathers around the ankle, all set atop a gum sole.
The most notable features come in the forms of the single piece leather toebox construction and the obvious lack of a bold "N" logo on the side. The typical standout logo has instead been replaced by a subdued perforated iteration. 110 years running and New Balance may just have another classic on its hands.
